Jackass The Game for Nintendo DS
Jackass the Game isn’t particularly a very good game including the one for the Nintendo DS because of the lack of polish in the game’s overall presentation. But fans of the popular TV series may embrace the game a bit and possibly even more for the ones who are into Tony Hawk style games. Those who never played it should expect a Tony Hawk like game with a lot of twists and silly elements along with a vast 3D world to explore. One of the few things that make the game impressive is the ragdoll physics that are demonstrated during gameplay. Aside from the controls, there isn’t anything really challenging in this game so you won’t find any game cheats, but there are some unlockables that enhance the experience a bit.
Gameplay
The gameplay gives you freedom to explore a full 3D environment that has depth, which is not very common in DS games. However, your real enemy is the sluggish controls. Basically, all you do is run around one of the six worlds and look for your crewmembers based on the TV show. These guys will give you missions where you need to perform stunts that resemble the ones done on the TV series. The later stunts become complicated, as many different events need to be triggered.
Stunts include the simple riding ones such as riding a wagon down a hill or slingshotting yourself out of a hammock. Some variations of the basics like the segment where you ride an ostrich have similar controls and mechanics. Some of the downright strange stunts are included as well including a part where you need to fling yourself off an airplane propeller or bareback a pig.
Hints
To get around with this game, simply follow the missions of each and keep doing it until you finish everything. That’s all there is to it. You can optionally enjoy roaming around the 3D environments so you can practice the limited skills that you have at your disposal. Once you learn the ropes of the first world, you should breeze through the other levels providing that you have perseverance with the massive repetitions of the missions although they do vary in style. You may find some difficulty in the launch missions where you need to calculate the angle and power to make it to the drop zone, but you can make it even if you miscalculate by controlling your character in midair in an unrealistic fashion. In general, none of the stunts are so difficult they get you stuck.
The best way to score big is to perform moves while doing the stunts that you are required to do. Doing poses and handstands are great ways to increase the multiplier and serve as the sole strategy in earning gold trophies instead of dog poop medals. This is necessary in earning the Speed Skater Suit.
Unlockables
Since most of the game comprises of mini games and missions, there isn’t much room for game cheats. Here are some of the unlockables that you can achieve as you play through the game.
• You can change the in-game music to other songs in the soundtrack by simply pressing A, Y, and UP simultaneously.
• Every area except the last area has 5 feathers scattered around the place. Find all 5 of them in each area to unlock the Chicken Suit, which grants a nice 15 bonus to attributes.
• When doing missions make sure you score well on every mission. If you reach 100 million global points, you will be rewarded with the Speed Skater Suit, which adds 3 to both skill and agility. The requirement involves combined effort of all the missions.
• If you max a pose while you are in the air, you should break all 206 of your bones when you fall to the ground. This stunt will grant you a Santa Suit, which adds an additional 5 points to Bone Breaking.
Jackass has plenty of different games to entertain you and a lot of areas to explore. But the variation is limited and you will pretty much find yourself doing the same things repeatedly. Still, it is jackass and it doesn’t come out empty at least.
