Action Man - Destruction X for PC

Action Man - Destruction X for PC is an awful, thankfully short, PC game developed by 3DO. It's an action game in birds eye view with extremely uninspiring camera controls and game play. It'd be pointless to devote an entire paragraph to the plot as it basically goes like this; Action Man has an arch nemesis named Dr. X that he's trying to defeat. That's it, the characters are extremely flat and you hardly every see any type of variety in the story. Not only that, but it has some of the worst graphics for its time(Mid 90's). As it lacks in so much game content, let's learn a little about the developer since Action Man - Destruction X for PC is so uninteresting.

The 3DO company started in 1993 by a man named Trip Hawkins. 3DO had a partner ship with at least seven different companies, Electronic Arts being the real power house out of them all. The game developing company started sincerely enough with wanting to make interactive and ground breaking games, they've showed this with their various attempts including the #DO Interactive Multi player system. 3D0 saw almost no success in its market and eventually filed for bankruptcy in 2003.

Like I previously stated, they wanted to build innovative ground breaking entertainment systems, which is when the 3D0 interactive Multi player system made it's debut in '93. It featured 32 bit graphics, two megabytes of DRAM, and a double speed CD-ROM, which was astounding hardware for it's time. But with that astounding hardware, came a hefty price of $700 dollars. Because of the price, the company saw little success for their game system, if any. Which is somewhat disheartening, as it really did have potential to be groundbreaking software.

The system had interactive game play that used a controller or a light gun, since most of the games consisted of shoot 'em ups. Unfortunately, their games had little impact and were extremely linear, causing fans to become bored with the titles. With huge contenders like Sony and Nintendo, 3D0 Studios stood no chance and saw their prodigy system die in the mid 1990s. Here's a couple paragraphs where Wikipedia.com explains what happened to the company afterwards.

When 3DO left their project they became a third part developer and instantly received acclaim for their Army Men series. This series featured the green toy army soldiers as real combatants in a war, firing weapons and everything. This game was extremely violently and widely enjoyed by many prepubescent children, including me. Even with the success of that game, they can't rid of the awful taste that their other projects/games emit. Hopefully other developers take this as an example and never follow in 3DO's footsteps. Now, without further ado, let's jump back into the damned game.

Even though they received a lot of fame for their Army Men series, Man - Destruction X for PC didn't receive much of a profit for Man - Destruction X for PC. The game is clunky with it's two styles of 3rdperson shooter and racing game play. It doesn't have any outstanding features and its birds eye view camera angles are extremely clumsy. Not to mention how the racing portion of the game is the slowest car driving races that I've ever endured. The graphics are awful and the PC game sports and uninspiring engine, causing it to fail on multiple levels.

Not only that, but the game lacks depth and any kind of story mode. They hardly ever delve far enough into the game for you to overlook the game play and want to finish the story. This game quickly becomes a chore and makes you think of something better you could be doing with your time.

I love Army Men games, but I hate Action Man - Destruction X for PC. Every single aspect is so awful that you'll quickly find yourself reaching for the uninstall button, possibly the most useful in the game. Since this shouldn't of even been released in the first place, I'll give it an 11% out of 100.
